EPIC PRODUCER of 2010
Swizz Beatz has undoubtedly had one of the best years ever! Craftsman behind some of the biggest hits of 2010, when you heard Swizzy's voice on a track, you always knew it was a PARTY! Whether it be on "Fancy" with Drake, Jay-Z's "On to the Next One", or Nicki Minaj & Eminem's "Roman's Revenge", the Producer added to a string of party anthems that transcended time and generations.

In addition to marrying the legendary Alicia Keys and welcoming their first son, Egypt in October, Swizz Beatz began a new chapter of his life by becoming the premier Producer-in-Residence at the Clive Davis School of Music at New York University. The One Man Band Man is a force to be reckoned with and we will continue to get bodied with him in 2011!

EPIC MOMENTS OF 2010

  • Mo’Niques ‘Precious’ Victory
When watching Mo’Nique’s disturbing transformation as Mary Jones in Lee Daniel’s film Precious, it was clear that accolades would surely follow. What we never imagined was that the Academy would recognize the comedienne’s incredible performance as she claimed the award for Best Supporting Actress! This was a GREAT moment in 2010...even if Samuel L. Jackson's face said otherwise... NoH8 in 2011.

  • All Blue Everything
The impact of 2009’s AVATAR continued to reign throughout 2010 as the film remained in theaters through April 2010 up until its Earth Day DVD release. James Cameron’s pioneering journey through the world of Pandora had us all seeing blue and speaking Navi! “I See You.”

  • O-PRAH is O-VAH! WHAT IS WE GON DO?
Well, it looks like my dreams of landing on a favorite things episode are a wrap! The big O kicked off her final season with a crazy trip to Australia for her audience, unforgettable guests and of course, a two-part edition of her epic “Favorite Things” episode! Oprah’s show will be truly missed and now I can finally get my mom’s attention back between 4pm & 5pm!

  • When Beyonce is away…
Kelly Rowland will RISE! Always getting scraps from the Knowles dinnertable, it was so refreshing to see the forgotten child of Destiny succeed. Inking a deal with Universal Motown and linking up with hitmaker David Guetta, Rowland kept us on the dancefloor with this summer’s “Commander”. Even though it makes us nervous to think that at any moment, Beyonce’s return can destroy Kelly’s best year ever, we are loving the ride and hope to see an album in 2011.

  • Doin’ It For Women!
Long before the pot boiled into a terrible “Black Friday” freestyle, Nicki Minaj refused to pay homage to Kimberly Jones at the 2010 BET Awards. She did, however, make sure that she gave credit to all vaginas in her acceptance speech for Best Female MC. It wasn’t too hard to claim the award with “heavy” competition like Trina, Missy, Eve, Shawnna, Solé, Monie Love, and ATL nobody Rasheeda. “I can’t even tawk right now!!”

  • Keep Crying Chris!
Chris Brown made a heartfelt return to the BET stage at the 2010 BET Awards for a tribute to his idol, Michael Jackson. Brown was told “deuces” by the network last year due to his Rude Boy drama with The Only Girl in the World and redemption didn’t seem in sight. But when the tears began to flow, fans came running back home! Brown is making his rise back to the top one mix tape at a time and 2011 is sure to be a new year with a new start for the kid!

  • Almost DOES Count
Brandy may not have taken the grand prize as champion of Dancing with the Stars, but her impressive 3rd place ranking revived the Singer’s place as one of Black America’s sweethearts. Often overshadowed by her attention whore of a brother, it was nice to see B-Rocka back on top in her own spotlight.

  • Aww You Made George Bush Cry..DO IT AGAIN!!
In George W.’s 2010 book “Decision Points”, the former President reveals that his lowest point in office was the classic comment by Kanye West that “George Bush doesn’t care about Black People” during the Hurricane Katrina relief efforts. Bush’s rank of this incident as his worst moment just proves that he was unscathed by all the other disaster he caused if an MC can shake you up more than anything else.

EPIC FAILS OF 2010

  • "We Are The World" 25th Anniversary Remake
  • The Fall of Whitney Houston “I was rooting for you. We ALL were rooting for you!!”
  • Trey Songz: My Moment on BET
  • The Drake x Hanson Riot at South Street Seaport, NYC

  • Bristol Palin on “Dancing with the Stars”
  • Raz-B Twitter Rants & Viral Videos about Chris Stokes’ buttplay
  • Ricky Romance
  • Rihanna Saturday Night Live Performances (November 2010)

And the What The Damn Hell Soulja Girl Lady of Soul Award Goes To…
ANTOINE DOBSON

  • Hide ya kids, Hide ya wives, AND hide ya Husbands!!! I think it goes without saying WHO gave us the most life in 2010! In the summer of 2010, a lanky little queen with a red bandana, black wife beater, a rolled up bus schedule and a heart of gold stole our souls with his fervent warning to a rapist who tried to steal his younger sister’s promiscuity. The man became an internet sensation, a Billboard hitmaker and a pop culture icon. Dobson flipped his 15 minutes into a record deal, a slew of appearances, top selling Halloween costume of 2010, and he continues to get PAID to keep his hair luxurious! He was even able to buy a house to get his family out of the hood and that is A-O-K with me! You can run & tell that...HOMEBOI!

  • Well, its a wrap for what was a big 2010 but 2011 is going to be MAJOR! Let's enjoy the ride! Make sure you live a life that is bespoke.
